I'm not going to the movies for a long time. Especially with that assign seating nonsense. Disney needs to stop being stingy drop some of these up Marvel movies on its Disney plus service.

They hemorrhaging money already, releasing a blockbuster movie on streaming is another loss. It is better for them to wait and make a definite profit. You may not go to the theater but plenty of other people will.

That's an assumption. Many people are already unemployed so movie money won't necessarily be there. And What if this covid19 doubles back in the fall?
Who's going to the movies then?

You are comparing releasing it digitally where they definitely won't recoup their investment vs a scenario where they might. I think they are going to choose having a chance to make profit over a definite loss.

This year is a wash. I doubt if any movies will recoup. They may as well release these flicks digitally. They do it for the fans.

Places are starting to reopen and the number of new Corona cases is steadily dropping. We aren't even at the halfway point of the year yet. They can wait see if the corona case number continues to drop and then decide. Now is definitely not the right time.

Now they are dropping now. They are may very well rebound in the fall. Especially as the weather gets cooler. A lot people don't think covid is a game and be going to the movies for a long time. Disney needs to get hip to this.

I don't know where you live but in NYC social distancing is already breaking down. People I think are generally unafraid. And while there are many who will be cautious when restrictions are lifted there are also people who cannot wait to get back to normal life. It's a wash really, I want to see the next Marvel movie as much as anyone but I understand why they aren't just putting it out. This is an opportunity for them to make some money finally since the pandemic started.
