#50 CENT #MARVEL
If you got geeked at the sight of Marvel adopting the Jewel Runners’ salute for a couple of covers earlier this year, prepare to nerd the f*ck out. Marvel is again diving into the world of hip-hop on a new line called Hip-Hop Variants, which will feature covers that pay homage to some of the genre’s most iconic albums – and their artwork.
Uproxx was lucky enough to get a sneak peak at some of the tributes, which fans will be able to get their hands on in October. Below, take a look at a handful of the covers available, side-by-side with the album artwork that inspired them.
Extraordinary X-Men #1 (Artwork by Sanford Greene) / 3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
MARVEL / BCM RECORDS
Howard the Duck #1 (Artwork by Juan Doe) / Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Versionby Ol’ Dirty b*stard

MARVEL / AFTERMATH ENTERTAINMENT
Ms. Marvel #1 (Artwork by Jenny Frison) / The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill by Lauryn Hill

Doctor Strange #1 (Artwork by Juan Doe) / The Chronic by Dr. Dre
MARVEL / DEATH ROW RECORDS
Sam Wilson, Captain America #1 (Artwork by Mahmud Asrar) / Long. Live. A$AP. by A$AP Rocky
MARVEL / A$AP WORLDWIDE
In all, more than 50 covers will be unveiled. If this sampling is any indication, the Hip-Hop Variants project promises to be a must-own. Which is your favorite of these covers? Let us know in the comments. (Consider me #TeamHowardTheDuck.)
