Oscar-winning filmmaker
Martin Scorsese is reportedly attached to helm the TV series pilot for a show based off
Shutter Island.
Paramount and HBO are teaming up for the Shutter Island show tentatively called
Ashecliffe, according to
Deadline. Scorsese, who directed the movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio, will reportedly return to helm the pilot, with a script from Dennis Lehane, who wrote the bestselling novel that the show and film are based on.

Ashecliffe will take place before the events of the Shutter Island film, with the show's title also serving as the name of the mental hospital from the movie. The series will focus on the hospital's past.
As for Scorsese, this wouldn't be the first time he's directed a show for HBO. He helmed the pilot for Boardwalk Empire and is working on a rock 'n' roll project with Mick Jagger about a cocaine-fueled record executive in the 1970s for the premium cable network.
