I know this is earlier for this but me and a couple of friends want to go to Mardi Gras problem is besides seeing footage of it on cops and shyt I really don't know much about it. I looked into it apparently the whole month of Feburary is a celebration.

So what are the days I need to go (most packed with tourist)? Does it matter if I stay on Bourbon St? Or would a hotel within walking or reasonable taxi ride be ok?

Is Bourbon St., Canal, French Quarter all near each other? What's up with the parade should I go to that or just stay bar hopping the whole time or is the parade route on a road with all the bars I really don't have a clue about shyt besides it's a wild party on the street.

The French Quarter might be a little walk but, when yu in the city yu can walk a whole mile and not even notice.Canal and Bourbon intersect. My advice is to go to the parades first to get a feel of the city and the festivities. Trust me, yu gon have plenty of time to go bar hopping when the parades are over. But yea the Bars and parades are pretty much around each other anyways.

Yu picked a good year cuz Mardi Gras and The Super Bowl will be around the same time :lolbron: the city is gon be crazy!!

man u see my AVI....... thats "The Black Mardi Gras Indians"...... local love...

but if going for 3 days...... i would suggest Sat-Mon......... Mardi Gras is Tuesday
Lundi Gras is Monday.......besides being a native to New Orleans.....

Mardi Gras nite is was never fun.......its always seem to end to early, and the tourist lose controls once they realize the party over believe me u dont want to see a couple thousand drunk people gettin they party ended unexpected its always a huge commotion.........so if u want to leave on a high note.......i suggest u leave the city Tuesday evening........cuz @ 12:00 am sharp......it seem like the National Guards hit the streets......they literally clear everything and start cleaning up from all the mess the tourist leave in the city......and when they roll out......u pretty much know to get out the way.......enjoy ya time its a wonderful city........

sidenote: Dont stray to far beyond the CBD.......ask around and u will find out what the CBD is.........and its almost mandatory that u stay in those limits.....

if not.......u might end up being:eat: for me and the homies

bourbon street is in the french quarter and canal street is on the edge of the french quarter. it's basically the boarder. the quarter has four streets that are the boarder: canal, rampart, esplanade and decatur. there are multiple parades through the whole carnival season but i don't really check that many of them out unless i'm either playing in one or some group of friends want to go (for the past two mardi gras i've either had friends from out of town visit me during that time, or one time this girl i was dating had her friends in town and they wanted to check it out).

honestly, there are other places in the city to go to for a good time on fat tuesday. i wouldn't advise staying in the quarter the whole time...

:comeon:

there's only certain areas he shouldn't go to, he can go outside of the cdb as long as he knows where he's going. people make this place out to be a lot scarier than it actual is when it's not...

Yeah i'm trying to start to get it in motion I was talking to one of my friends who said they start clearing you out at 1am but damn 12am:wtf: never really thought about it but not everywhere has a late last call. I think I might skip out on Fat Tuesday and go the weekend before they said people start to get there Saturday anyway.

people are here the whole festival season, you don't have to worry about being here specifically just for fat tuesday. in regards to that clearing everyone out of the quarter (because they only clear everyone out of the quarter, not other areas of the city) at 12am on wednsday, that's because it's ash wednesday at that point. that's why i was saying it's cool to go to other parts of the city instead of staying in the quarter, because you're going to be packed there and then eventually they're going to shut everything down...
