Former champion Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31KOs) says one thing is for sure, he will fight again in 2015. Following his rematch loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr., Maidana wondered if he would fight again. The Argentine boxer is only 31-years-old and his family would like to see him hang up the gloves but he already made a decision to continue fighting.

Maidana says his career goal has already been accomplished, to face the fighter recognized as the number one boxer in the world.

"Yes [my family would like me to retire], but I made a decision. I plan to continue. If a good fight comes along, we will accept it. I already achieved the goal in mind. I wanted to fight with the best, with the [fighter recognized as] number one. I got to that point and, well, I could not beat him. Now we have to wait and if something good comes along, a big fight, I'll fight," Maidana told Fox Deportes.

After two fights with Mayweather, Maidana has openly called for a fight with WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, who faces undefeated Chris Algieri on November 22nd in Macau, China.

After a few more weeks of relaxing with his family, Maidana plans to reunite with trainer Robert Garcia in Oxnard, California.

Unlike the match with Mayweather, Maidana expects a very exciting contest with Pacquiao, because of their respective fighting styles.

"A fight with him would be very good because of the way he fights. Before the second fight with Mayweather, Top Rank had offered a fight with him but we preferred to face Mayweather because we were familiar with him and we were hoping to win. We thought we were going to win because the first fight had been close. We decided to grab Mayweather, so we'll see if next year [we can get Pacquiao]," Maidana said.

The nikka ducked Pacquiao breh.... and now he wants to fight him after getting his ass whooped twice by Floyd, once by Devon Alexander and once by khan.... :stopitslime:... :camby: got the game all the way fukked up

I'm not so sure Devon and Khan would want to fight him again since Garcia has been fine tuning him. Considering the way Devon got bullied by Porter, I'm wondering what a 2014/2015 rematch with Maidana would be like. I loved Alexander's performance against Maidana though. Definitely handed out that work.

Porter can actually box though.. Maidana is just swinging wild, no accuracy over hand rights on the inside hoping something lands.. hoping he can tire his opponent out.. He gets easily outboxed by Devon again.. Devon actually has a noce chin on him too.. Kham would box that nikka ears off again, probably wonldn't even go the distance.. All you have to do is box him and its a shut out..

I have a feeling Maidana will get a B-level fight, not be as motivated and get KO'ed and fade away quickly.. hope not though

he ducked Pacquiao to fight a feather fisted nikka who couldn't hurt him, only dance around the ring and outpoint him.. He lost and now he wants to cash out against Pacquiao after we already offered him a shot :stopitslime: Im just glad nikkas can stop with the nonsense that Pacquiao is avoiding nikkas when its obvious the other way around... Of course he wants to fight Pacquiao now that he lost to Devon Alexander, Amir Khan, and Floyd twice... :deadmanny: we straight breh, get a win first

Still doubt it happens, but it would be a great fight. Both guys love to put on offensive shows and have defensive vulnerabilities.

Pacquaio needs some fresh opponents. Maidana would be a great matchup.
