Sen. Marco Rubio gets the last laugh with more than $100,000 in water bottle sales
Marco Rubio's PAC is capitalizing on the Florida senator's so-called Watergate by selling branded water bottles.
Sen. Marco Rubio may be getting the last laugh from his water drinking gaffe.
Rubios political action committee has raised more than $100,000 from selling Rubio water bottles since he took that awkward sip of water during his State of the Union rebuttal last week, Buzzfeed reported.
The Reclaim America PAC began offering the red and white Rubio water bottles on Wednesday for a donation of $25 or more.
A source close to the Florida Republican told Buzzfeed that more than 3,100 of the bottles have since been snapped up.
"Send the liberal detractors a message that not only does Marco Rubio inspire you he hydrates you too, a message on the PACs website reads.
Rubio has worked to spin the water drinking incident to his advantage after becoming the butt of jokes with his ill-timed reach for water on Tuesday night. He tweeted a photo of the tiny Poland Spring bottle after his speech and later joked about the moment in television interviews.
God has a funny way of reminding us were human, he said on ABCs Good Morning America.
