Rubio's promoter disgusted with his Golovkin performance

Promoter Reginaldo Kuchle returned to Juarez, but before doing so he expressed his feelings about Marco Antonio Rubio's knockout loss to Gennady Golovkin in their recent middleweight unification in Carson, California.

Rubio was caught to the top of the head in the second round and went down for the count. When Rubio went down, most observers felt his senses were in order as he allowed the referee to count him out. Rubio complained afterwards, stating the referee gave him a fast count and also claiming he beat the count. Rubio also confirmed his senses were in order and the punch that caught him was not that hard. Golovkin himself was surprised Rubio was counted out by the punch that clipped him.

Some fighters, and experts, even questioned whether Rubio intentionally stayed down.

Rubio's promoter is so furious that he appears to have dumped the fighter based on his performance.

"Rubio was a disgrace. What a way to lose. He was knocked out in two rounds by a punch that wasn't enough to do that. It was deplorable display by Rubio. We expected much more from him. We did not know what to do [when he lost], we could not find the door to get out of there. Rubio disappoint the fans. Rubio has nothing to do with us. We have no place for such people," the promoter said categorically.

That punch wasn't enough to knock him out... but that punch was enough to let him know that he didn't want to get punched again.

I think the one before that was even more vicious. That hook that sent him to the ropes right before the top shot if memory serves me right.
