A hulking manager for a Manhattan Panera Bread franchise attacked a subordinate, knocking her to the ground with two haymakers, a stunning video released Wednesday on YouTube shows.
The video, taken at 12:30 p.m., inside the Park Ave. South store near E. 23rd St. shows the employee — who is clearly a foot shorter than the manager — yelling at her attacker.
She threw a bag of chips on the floor before her manager wallops her twice. The second blow knocked the woman to the ground, the grisly 40 second video shows.
The person who posted the video, known only as Midgarr, said the Panera employee was quitting mid-shift when everyone’s tensions rose.
“(She) just wasn’t having it today,” he wrote on his YouTube post. “(She) threw some bag of chips on the floor, yelled, etc. Manager in white shirt basically threw her out the door, she came back, and then...this.”
Witnesses were left stunned
“(The manager) legit threw her down a flight of stairs and out the front door for really no reason,” one tipster told Gawker, which first reported the story. “She runs around to the other entrance to retaliate and that’s where the video starts. You might wanna say she hit him first, but really he had FULL CONTROL over her the entire time.”
The employee did not appear to be seriously harmed.
Cops were investigating the attack Wednesday evening.
A manager at the Midtown Panera Bread refused to comment Wednesday evening
A spokeswoman for Panera Bread confirmed the attack Wednesday night — and said that manager and the employee have been fired.
“Today there were reports of a physical altercation between two associates at our Park Avenue South bakery-cafe,” spokeswoman Amanda Cardosi said.
“We have a zero tolerance policy for violence and worked swiftly with authorities to investigate. The associates who were determined to be involved no longer work for Panera,” Cardosi said.
“The health and safety of our associates and guests will always be our top priority."
