Man shot, killed trying to retrieve money for female friend

HOUSTON — Harris County Sheriff’s deputies are trying to sort out the details of a fatal shooting that happened Wednesday night after what appears to be a disagreement over money.

A woman and a man were spending time together at the Augusta apartments in the 12600 block of Kuykendahl at Mercedes Wednesday evening. Something happened between the two, and the woman left and told two of her male friends that the man she had been hanging out with owed her money.
The two friends returned to the apartment with the woman and began banging on the door shortly before 9:30 p.m.

When the apartment resident would not answer, one of the woman’s friends broke a window and gained entry. The apartment resident opened fire, shooting the friend in the chest.

The woman and the other friend put the injured man in the car and rushed him to Northwest Medical Center, where he later died.

No charges have been filed at this time.
