Well, somebody’s a little bitter. Actually, make that very bitter.
A man in Australia proposed to his former dance teacher, who he claimed he had a romantic relationship with, but when she turned him down, he decided he wanted the ultimate payback–literally. He wanted her to pay him back for all the things he bought for her during what he says was a four-year relationship.
The man, 65-year-old Bruce Dusting, is dead serious too, telling news show A Current Affair (the Australian version) his story. Dusting took classes from ballroom dance teacher and 42-year-old single mother Marie Lacombe. Even though she claims they were never even in an actual relationship, he started giving her different gifts and helping her pay for major expenses. Something she didn’t shut down. These expenses, according to Dusting, include everything from simple fitness classes, to dental appointments, tupperware, cash to help throw birthday parties for her kids, and even cosmetic surgery–a tummy tuck and breast implants. Despite all that, she says that Mr. Dusting is the shark. “I didn’t ask him to do that!” But she does make it clear that he definitely provided her and her kids with a lot.
“He used to dine us, he used to take us out…or we’d go to the city.”
Unfortunately for him though, she never wanted anything serious and certainly didn’t want to be his wife.
While Dusting says, “I liked spending time with her, I liked spending time with her kids,” he says that he kept a list of many of the large purchases he made for Lacombe. So when he proposed and she said thanks, but no thanks, he realized he had been used and sent over his “bill” of transactions, adding up to $200,000.
”She will NOT get away with this.”
I don’t know how he plans to get his money back from her. I’m not a lawyer, but I’ve seen enough court shows to know that when you give someone a gift and there’s no talk of paying folks back (including a written contract), whatever you gave is gone for good. Mr. Dustin might want to just take this one as a loss and slowly but surely move forward. But hey, at least he got some snazzy ballroom dance moves out of the whole thing…
