NEW YORK, N.Y. - New York police say a man who cleared two fences at the Bronx Zoo and ended up in an exhibit has been mauled by a tiger and has lost a leg.
The New York Police Department says the 25-year-old man jumped from an elevated area over two fences to reach the enclosure. The attack occurred Friday at about 3 p.m. in a fenced enclosure at the zoo. NYPD spokesman Paul Browne says the tiger attacked the man before being pulled away by zoo personnel.
The man has been hospitalized in critical condition.
The zoo hasn't responded to a request for information about what had happened.
