He's been dealing with back issues for quite a while
I would venture towards Retirement. The Back Issues are probably eating away at what he wants to do, making him depressed. Shawn Michaels and Rick Rude were shelved from it, so I can see a hiatus from wrestling in some fashion.

I hope it's just a sabbatical if he steps away. But he's 37, he might be a shell of himself if he comes back from a long sabbatical.
Hopefully he can age as gracefully as Shawn Michaels did. I know he's no Shawn Michaels by any mean, but as good as he is as a wrestler and a creative mind, it would be really sad to see him hang it up permanently well before his 40s.
