Police are trying to unravel a twisted case of blackmail, rape and sodomy allegedly perpetrated by a Utah man against the ex-husband of his wife.

Michael Seach, 49, was arresed and charged Wednesday for attacking his wife’s former husband, who alleges he has been blackmailed for months and threatened with death.

The victim has not been identified.

He told police he had been threatened for the past seven to 10 months by his ex-wife’s husband, who claimed to have damaging information about him
The victim summoned police from the lobby of the Motel 6 in Riverdale, where he staggered after escaping a room in which the accused had sexually assaulted him.

Police said the caller still had a blindfold tied around his neck when officers arrived at the motel.

Police did not disclose what information was being used to allegedly blackmail the ex-husband, which came from the suspect’s wife.

"Through that relationship, the suspect had gained some information on the victim and was using that information to extort him for money, said Riverdale Police spokesman James Ebert.

The suspect “used that information to extort him for the sexual assault and then had threatened his life if he did not participate," Ebert told KSL-TV in Utah.
