Back in the day I didn't fw Macklemore when he was huge but I've now come to appreciate him being one of the few prominent artists that has been vocal about the plight of Gaza (who are suffering atrocities by Israel using US supplied weapons and taxpayer money). A lot of US and UK celebrities from Muslim backgrounds ain't even being vocal like they should be.

i fukked with Macklemore pre-Thrift Shop, haven't kept up with him since. He's like a white J Cole in terms of generic-ness, but with more serious & direct content, and doesn't tip toe around issues like Cole.

The seemingly grandstanding that kinda goes hand in hand with his serious songs always somewhat irked me, but it is what it is.






with that said, that didn't come off as a shot at Drake to me, it's a shot/observation of the masses / hip hop fans. The old "yall focused and doing all this in the name of beef, whatta bout X Y Z" bit.

Not too different from Vince Staples and em.
