GOAT thread.

Just today I was vibing to Braveheart and Cold War. I just got that complete scheme with the pomade-fro-wave-slaveship-wood-drawers-clothes-nooses :noah:

Lupe is the best rapper in the game right now, hands down

wtf is lupe rapping about in lamborghini angels

Verse 1 = a racist pastor who performs an exorcism on a black man because he feels his skin color is a curse.

Verse 2 = a girl from way back in the day when women had limited rights who has a piece of her brain removed because she wants to be independent, smart and to have an opportunity at success just like men do.

Verse 3 = a pedophile pastor who messes with little boys and a US soldier who tortures middle easterns.

Lamborghini Angels, bytch Bad, and Unforgivable Youth are the storyline songs for this album. The main reason why F&L II is my favorite project by him to date is because it's the most well rounded in its content. You have

3 storyline tracks(Lambo Angels, bytch Bad, Unforgivable Youth)
2 love tracks(How Dare You, Battle Scars)
2 songs where it's straight lyrics(Form Follows Function, Put Em Up),
a bunch of black-centric tracks(Strange Fruition, Hood Now, ITAL,Audobon Ballroom)
1 uplifting track(Heart Donor)
2 personal, introspective tracks(Brave Heart, Cold War)
and one song that talks about America in general and is sort of the glue for the whole project(Around My Way)

I vibe to what he's saying in this album, and also the unafraid directness of his message, a bit more than I do on his first two albums. The first two are still great though, and like I've been saying recently, the older Lasers gets, the less I dislike it. It's not as bad as people say. Has about 5 genuinely good songs.

Great album. Dude is on a different level lyrically and conceptually and I'm incredibly proud and happy that he was able to bounce back from that horrific Lasers ordeal. Can't wait for F&L II part 2. Hoping he links up with Soundtrakk since his presence was missed on this. I also hear S1(the guy who did Kanye's "Power") produced half the album. Plus Lupe said his last album on Atlantic before going independent - called "SKULLS" - shyts on both F&L II's.

2013 we eat again! <gargoyles voice>

This is my no.2 AOTY.

Just :mindblown: lyrics, I'm still deciphering everytime I play it.

Black Panthers, black anthems, black blues
With black answers for black stanzas: Langston Hughes
Breaking rules, ain't it cool?
Took it old, and made it new
Black painters, musical black anger
Black mothers, beautiful black anchors
So let's hear it for 'em! Let's hear it for 'em!
Let's hear it for 'em! Let's hear it for 'em!
Black America! Trap America!
80s Babies! Crack America!
Rap America! Bad as Erykah!
From the era of family tearing up
But we just won big, can't be undid
Form a whole culture in just one kid
Miami dope boys, Oakland militants
Harlem Renaissance it's our deliverance

I think musically at times the album can't keep up with Lupes rhymes. Def still one of the best rappers out right now. I think I might listen to it in whole on the way to work today.

We're on the exact same page except I'd throw Strange Fruition on there to round out the top 5. That song is the perfect intro for what the album is all about.

As for this Nas vs Lupe shyt, all nikkas was saying at first when they said F&L II is Lupe's Stillmatic is that he put out a disappointing album before it like Nas (Lasers/Nastradramus) and came back with an extremely good follow up(F&L II/Stillmatic).

Then nikkas started getting all salty and defensive on some "HOW DARE YOU COMPARE THIS ALBUM TO STILLMATIC" shyt. Both albums serve the exact same purpose for the respective rappers careers.

Nas was on the decline and people really questioned whether he'd get it together and live up to his GOAT potential or if quality music from him was a thing of the past. He dropped Stillmatic and reclaimed his former reputation.

If you're too biased and stupid to see the fukking parallel in how F&L II will do the same thing for Lupe's career then that's your problem because to me it's obvious. When Lasers dropped people thought Lupe was finished.

What happened to lupe's comeback Versa? :shaq:
