I don't understand this sense of dissapointment I'm getting from some of the replies here. I feel like volume 2 has suffered due to people looking back at Volume 1 with rose-tinted glasses.

It's an anthology series so naturally, some episodes will be better than others. The only problem with this volume is that it's only 8 episodes, so unlike volume 1, if there is a boring episode, it can't be carried, as easily, by the better episodes. And volume 1 certainly did have some lame ones (the two guys "swimming" in the desert, the yogurt episode, the Hitler one, Zima Blue).

Swap out any of the episodes in volume 2 with a random episode in volume 1 (perhaps with the exception of Beyond the Aquila Rift) and I gurantee that volume 1 would be just as enjoyable as it was, which to me says the overall quality of the story telling is still the same.

Having said that though, the only episode I didn't quite enjoy was the Santa one.

Pop Squad was by far my favorite in this volume. Beautiful visuals and felt like some Blade Runner 2049 feature. I’m really disappointed that we only got eight episodes though, and majority of them were nothing special.

Ice was.....solid. Loved, loved, LOVED the animation. Really took me back to the times of those old school Gorillaz music videos. Story was okay, not overly impressed, but I enjoyed it way more than The Drowned Giant.

Interestingly enough, I had more fun with Tall Grass than I ever did with that horror movie that dropped a while back on Netflix — In the Tall Grass. This shyt was only 11 minutes long and accomplished its point way better than that film could. :heh:

I watched 3-4 eps Friday night and thought aight good warm up :ehh:.

Then I got nice and comfy Saturday afternoon thinkin it’s time to get serious :eat:.... but after the Drowned Giant ep I was like :russell: let’s see whether the next one is better tha-

....

:mjtf: That’s it??

I guess it can’t be helped if it’s due to Covid but it’s still disappointing how short it was. And altho it was more fancy animations, the stories didn’t hit as hard as S1 imo.

I hope this shyt doesn’t fall off like Black Mirror did. It doesn’t help that LDR’s opening titles cast off the same vibes. :sadcam:

I had this shyt queued up ready to go expecting to feel grossed out, angry, and heartbroken by the episodes but this volume just felt a bit too safe. The first volume had a little bit of everything.

That's the perfect description.

I was like... ok so you can ran across the ice to prove you're not completely useless. Ok so you rambled about a dead giant decomposing. Ok so Killmonger outsmarted a maintenance robot.

:russell::russell:

Even the twists with potential like the Santa one, they could've done so much more with it; like having countless kids disappearing or found maimed across the globe, always on xmas eve, and really build it up as a dark murder mystery. Or just keep it small scale and have it be the protagonists childhood friends and it's not until he's an adult with kids that he discovers the truth. idk. but something more than that tongue n cheek ish they settled with.

S2 was okay, I think Hollywood has placed on cap or hold on CGI technology with making movies with this type of realism ,,, CGI was so damn power I thought the actors were real, that shyt will replace actors one day,,,, shyt looked more real than a rendered video game sequence,,,, nevertheless most of these short movie story are better and original than anything Hollywood has put out these few years....

Hollywood need to make a Halo movie using E3 and E7 CGI tech :banderas:seem like nobody trying to use this technology.

most episodes were shorter,,,, 18 minutes runtime:ehh: shyt goes off at 16 minutes :dahell:

1. 4.5

2. 5.5

3. 8.5 -- great story wish it was a movie

4. 8.5 -- great story wish it was a movie

5.7.0 -- great story wish it was a movie

6. 6.5 - - wish it was a movie

7. 6.5

8. 5.5 .--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> :dame:

The year 3030
just finished, and overall i thought it was a little disappointing...denno if it's cause of the pandemic, but having only 8 sucked...it felt a lot of the samey thematically (some of the shorts felt like the same "movie" but different parts of it). Least w/ Vol. 1 there felt some variety...this one, not so much.
Automated Customer Service - fun take on the whole machines taking over concept
Ice - reminded me of samurai jack / powerfpuff / dexter etc. animation wise, thought the story was ok
Pop Squad - interesting one, was reminded heavily of LA Noire, especially with how old school the vehicles were
Snow in the Desert - this is what terminator salvation shoulda been :lolbron:
The Tall Grass - Might be my favorite visually, sorta looked like claymation.
All Through the House - :mjlol: christmas short...i do :jbhmm: what if there were bad
Life Hutch - Homie did look like Michael B...looked at the credits and :pachaha: it is him
The Drowned Giant - :ld: looked nice but beyond that
