His bass line on MJ's "Get On The Floor" is the best bass line I've personally ever heard. R.I.P to a true musical icon(WXIA) – Influential bassist Louis Johnson, one-half of the legendary funk and R&B duo the Brothers Johnson has died at the age of 60.
The prolific Johnson was heard from the 70s through the early years of the 21st Century in the background of tunes that ran across the entire scope of music -- from Paul McCartney to Michael Jackson; from Stevie Nicks to Aretha Franklin and from John Mellencamp to Bjork.
Along with his brother George, Johnson formed the Brothers Johnson in 1975, with three of their first four albums landing as top ten charting albums on the Billboard pop charts, and all four of the albums landing in the number one spot on the Billboard R&B chart.
Many of their hits can still be heard on the radio today – tunes like "I'll Be Good To You", "Strawberry Letter 23", "Stomp!" and many others.
Johnson's bass sound as noted on songs like Michael McDonald's "I Keep Forgetting" and Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" continue to have a solid influence on music today.
According to Rolling Stone, Johnson's nephew confirmed his death Friday, but the cause of his death was not revealed.
