Looks like DC’s RFK Stadium won’t be a ghost area much longer

Will an NFL stadium return at RFK?

Man I like the way bowser attempts to appeal to her constituents and tries to get them what they asked for

@FAH1223 Is she a lesbian tho?
Everyone says that it’s pretty obvious that she is. But she’s on the record saying she’s straight.

She doesn’t strike me as the type to date nikkas.

The area will be better without the stadium.

There used to be businesses up the way from the stadium that got basically killed.

I think PG/MD is waiting for them to move so they can develop that area.
Yeah all the state delegates are basically like “they can leave or they can stay, it’s up to them”

Wes Moore and Angela Alsobrooks are more aggressive in trying to keep them there though and the practice facility going there from Ashburn.

They see how much money and gentrification the Nationals Stadium has created for Southwest and the Navy Yard.

It's over for the hood. I live in Capital hill east, I can walk to RFK. It's sitting on a gold mine. And there's a few acres of undeveloped land a few 100 yards away. It's on and popping.

It's over for the hood in Southeast DC, west of the Potomac River

Cool...Who's paying for it?
DC and MD say they ain't putting money for it.

VA is offering $1.5 billion but the VA Senate which is controlled by the Democrats ain't rolling with it yet. Youngkin wants it.

VA has elections this year so expect to hear more and more about it.

It's wild how Jack Kent Cooke was going all over the area to get that stadium done in the 1990s. He was trying to put it in Laurel near the Race Track... Anne Arundel County said get out. He even thought of the Konterra area in Beltsville-Laurel. Then PG County bought the Wilson Farm where Fedex Field is.

Reading about it is :wow:

Yeah, he had a press conference to announce the Lorton deal in the early 90s, only for VA to back out.

Traffic to RFK would be wild. DC-295 isn’t built for it.

But the Stadium Armory Metro is there.

I think Virginia is a huge mistake if they opt for that.

I'd cosign VA being a mistake. While I'm no longer in the area, I do a lot of business down in Virginia still and it would be a nightmare.

Not that DC would be much better, but the thought of redeveloping the RFK site for a new stadium with a dome just makes me :noah: and having the team back in DC proper.

Also, the sale re-sparked my fandom more than I thought it would.

Not even people in Virginia would be able to make it in that traffic. They would have to build a highway just to get to the stadium
Nobody ain't trying to deal with that stop and go traffic

Why would traffic at rfk be bad? Stadium-Armory right there. Most people would take the metro

Yeah, he had a press conference to announce the Lorton deal in the early 90s, only for VA to back out.
It was Potomac Yard:

The Southern Virginia and Carolina whites would not take the Metro.

But I agree with you that it won't be as bad as it is going to the game in Landover because it's so close to the metro. The stadium was built before metro subways even existed, and it already has the parking infrastructure to hold it.

Saying that, if they were to replenish RFK, I would build garages around the stadium instead of that parking lot. I would also have more buses and increase train volume, which may be too much for WMATA to handle.
