Depends on what you're looking for. With African lit, it can break down by region. So especially with what you're looking for, the region will make all the difference. If you want to get into Kemetic shyt then the Metu Neter series is great and it's back in print for a limited time, Muata Ashby's books also fill in the leftover blanks of Kemetian mythology and practices. Science of the Dogon is good as anything involving the Dogon is good shyt. Kongo-Bantu cosmology will give you an introduction to the spiritual systems of the various Kongo-Bantu peoples.

I guess out of all books I'd start with Christianity Before Christ by John G. Jackson as it introduces you to all the different mythologies of outside groups that used the original stories from Ancient Kemet.

They teach that shyt somewhere here in D.C. so it's black people out here fully learned and initiated, there's actually an Aser Aset community within the Black community out here. That and Yoruba religions, kinda nice to see all these African spiritual systems being utilized. Breh, if you do buy the Metu Neter series I suggest you buy two copies. As a bookseller I'll put you on game, the Metu Neter books go in and out of print on some cyclical shyt so they just came back maybe over a month ago now. When them shyt go back outta print, those same 7 books you bought for 20-30 dollars end up being worth between $60 and $250 depending on which book it is and the condition. Metu Neter Vol 1 is the $250 book, so if you buy 3 copies and keep one you can come up on a cool $500 and make a $440 profit off the extra $60 spent on two more copies.

Get knowledge like hustlers get money breh, them thangs go hand in hand.

As others mentioned the Metu Neter books by Ra Un Nefer Amen. Muata Ashby has good information on Khemetic systems. If you are looking for something outside of the traditional patriarchal view should check out Mama Zogbe books. They touch on African matriarchal and spiritual colonization throughout the ancient world including Europe and America before phallic worship. A lot of the mosques, churches, and temples headed by priests, monks, imams, pujaris were built over previous temples at certain meridians with the modern religions we have today. How Blacks in America come from these ancient mothers who arrived as slaves and are always connected and how to talk to them. Also on how to make amends with immediate ancestors who you felt done wrong and rituals to release the spirits of those ancestors who died tragically/suddenly and release generational negativity.

The Epic of Sundiata is a good Epic mixed with some mythology

African Religion by Mbiti isn't about mythology but interesting

There is some good juvenille fiction like Why do Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears and the Anansazi stories from the Akan

One of the most interesting cosmologies and mythologies is that of the Kongo people which includes a fascinating creation myth. Not sure of the book but look around for it in Google books or Amazon.
