The impact Kidd made on that Nets team in 2002 was unbelievable!

If you take a look at Kidd's number from 2002 they're good but what isn't shown is the IMPACT he made on the court.
14.7 PPG, 9.9 APG, 7.3 RPG

In a single year Kidd brought the Nets from a lottery team to a top team in the East. He made Jefferson and Kenyon Martin look like Gold on the court.

Duncan is the GOAT power forward of all-time but, I feel that Kidd deserved the 2002 MVP award.

What about you?

Yes definitely, wasn't mad at Duncan (my favorite player) but Kidd should have won back in 2002. I stay telling people this but it was 10 years ago, nobody cares anymore. But yeah, I agree.

I thought he deserved it but I wouldn't use the word "robbed" cuz you couldn't really argue against Duncan gettin it

Hell no. Duncan was CLEARLY better that year and was doing it out west not in the JV eastern conference. Kidd's MVP hype was more about the story then his actual performance. (14.7/9.9/7.3 on 39% FG, 48%T/S)

:wtb: That team basically had the same exact team the year before and they got rid of Marbury for Kidd and went right to the finals

im in between

I used to think Kidd should have won because of the turnaround the Nets had. But then you remember the Nets Kidd played with was healthy versus the years prior. Also Duncan had a GREAT 2001-2 season. Probably the best of his career.

It wasnt a robbery, and I could understand giving it to Kidd, but Duncan deserved it too.

untrue. The team got healthy in 2001-2. I am not negating Kidd's impact, but the Nets were not the same team when Kidd arrived versus before.

Exactly, The story.

Guy goes to bad team, turns them great. But his actual individual performance wasn't MVP worthy and I highlighted that. especially when you compare it to Duncan

25.5/12.7/3.7/50% anchoring the 2nd best Defense in basketball, On the second best team(58 wins) out west. Nets are a 7th or 8th seed in the WCF in 02'

9th in Win Shares, 10th in PER, 5th in RAPM, not even in the Top 10 for WS/48. Great year, but Duncan and Shaq and were both Top 3 in all of those categories and were doing it at more premium positions. Clearly he didn't get robbed of ****

MVP means Most Value Player not the player with the best numbers. I thought he shoulda got it off of impact alone but I said he wasn't robbed cuz you couldn't argue against Duncan
