They had the most incompetent police force ever :dahell:. It's still the GOAT show :lawd: but I was doing my annual viewing of the entire series :ahh: and I would not want to rely on that PD for protection. First season they fell right into the trap and let one of their own almost die:wow:, 2nd season they were pretty :ld:much aight, 3rd season drugs were legalized right under their nose and they didn't find out until Colvin was ratted on :what:, 4th season they couldn't figure out where all the bodies were going until Prez gave them that tip :why:, and the 5th season was just :mindblown: they fell for a made up serial killer....like how does that happen?

I know it's fiction but The Wire has a lot of reality in it. If Baltimore PD is that messy and has that many politics going on I would hate to stay there. I've been a few times and it is the jungle but dam I hope the PD aint that bad.

Look at what's going on in the REAL news in the REAL world and tell me you think the police department on The Wire was really incompetent. At least they didn't murder any kids.

Actually Prez did I believe. It was an honest mistake though. :troll:

I've watched the entire series at least 4 times. I just watched the complete 1st season again and the thing I find crazy is why didn't avon have any high ranking cops on his payroll. Yeah he made donations to the senators but lester freeman & that white guy pretty much figured out their entire operation. Mcnutty was just the driving force manipulating people but old man freeman was the glue that put it all together.

Buying a cop in b-more isn't hard, If some cops would've tipped avon off then maybe he could've shut the down the phones & pagers sooner and figured out to get the work to the fiends a different way without being caught. Also the show starts with deangelo on trial for murder, maybe if he didn't shoot that guy in tower then barksdale's crew wouldn't have been on mcnutty's radar. I could tell stringer had animosity towards deangelo for bringing all the heat on them.

and they would have still caught Walter White with ease.

Dysfunction was only part of their incompetence. How do you fall for a made up serial killer? Or allow drugs to be legalized in a city you're supposed to be policing?

Dysfunction was the impetus.

The show ended with Stan fukking Valcheck as commissioner. :snoop:

The problem was that in a large city like Baltimore getting anything done requires a huge amount bureaucracy and political pandering and The Wire was great at showing that shyt tends to roll downhill and gain traction.
