Mike had to be ruthless because everyone thought they could muscle him after Vito got weak/sickly. The only two things that he did that was questionable was kill Fredo. He had it coming for what he allowed to happen to Michael’s family. But he was still his brother. I still don’t know how to feel about that and Mike should’ve knew better than to involve Appalonia into his life. He knew how grimy the life was. She was too sweet for it. He was on the run. He should’ve laid low for a few years, not get married. He basically got her killed. shyt was one of the most fukked up scenes in The Godfather.
