history of the beef:
History of the "BEEF"between Shaq & MC Skillz • Lakers Forum
"Sometime in late May, early June, Shaq hooks up with DJ Sickamore and drops a track called Drop Another Day, where he openly disses KG and Timmy, but then goes away from the NBA and discreetly disses "someone" from Virginia.
"I don't care how mad your skills is, you can't serve me," Shaq raps. "You don't like Deez? Take off my throwback jersey." O'Neal goes on to say, "You're the fourth-best from Virginia/ Guess what? I don't f--- with scrubs either/ ... I don't know what you look like/ You be spitting metaphors like you're a geek."
Skillz felt like the hit was on him and after reviewing the track realized that it was him that Shaq was going after. Now here comes the most humorous part about it....Skillz can't figure out why Shaq would go after him and he has a far-fetched theory as to why.
You guys are not going to believe what I'm about to say, but this just goes to show you how fickle Shaq really is!
Skillz released an underground track called The Rap Up 2004 , where he goes after Kobe and his rape case. According to Skillz, not once did he go after Shaq, but maybe Shaq went after him because he was trying to stick up for Kobe (who was his teammate at the time).
Skillz said he's a heard a theory about why O'Neal might want to throw jabs at him. At the top of the year, he released the underground cut "The Rap Up 2004," on which he made fun of another Laker, Kobe Bryant, by calling his alleged rape of a Colorado woman "the dummy move of the year." Skillz also took a piece of 50 Cent's "Wanksta" for his rap, saying, "Damn, Kobe. In high school you was the man, Kobe."
"I don't know how close him and Kobe are," Skillz said. "What I said about Kobe in 'The Rap Up' ... I didn't make none of that up. 'The Rap Up' is a summary of what happens in the year. [Shaq] might have been trying to take up for Kobe, but even Kobe wouldn't have taken up for Kobe."
Anyways...Skillz hits up the studio in July to retaliate, teams up with DJ P Cutta & DJ Whoa and comes up with a whole entire CD dedicated to punk Shaq called Street Wars: The Finals (Skillz vs. Shaq). He absolutely goes after Shaq rapping over the Jadakiss track, The Champ is Here, where he interviews Ben Wallace over the phone before he starts his rap. Keep in mind, Ben Wallace by no means disses Shaq but just says how Detriot played like a team to beat up the Lakers to win the NBA Finals. Skillz does all the dissin' on this track.
"You versus me, that's a sad one/ I killed your rap career, as if you ever had one ... When you see me, have nothing to say/ Treat me like your lazy eye and start going the other way."
On another track, Skillz raps over Jay-Z's 99 Problems, but calls his version 99 Free Throws .
"99 free throws and you won't hit one/ When you at the foul line, I feel bad for you, son," he jabs. "Once a rappin' ball player tried to dis me in his flow/ Not a rappin' ballplayer in the sense he could rap/ Well, actually none of them are really good at that ... You know the type/ They got cake, so they hype/ Got a bunch of yes-men telling them they sh-- is tight."
And on another track, Skillz rhymes over 50 Cent's Back Down
"That garbage you mumbled over the track/ I can write for Yao Ming, and he'd probably sound better than that/ The Lakers' dynasty, that's over, n---a/ That goes for you, Payton, Malone and Kobe, n---a."
Which brings us to today....Surely after Skillz KILLS Shaq lyrically, Shaq retaliates by teaming up with Vlad on his mixtape, Hot in Here Part Five and raps over Eminem's "Say What You Say" dissing not only Skillz, but Kobe and Big Ben as well, on a track titled You Not The Fightin Type
"You don't want war, well I'mma bring it/ You done messed up, man...Even with wings you're never fly as me/ You remind me of Kobe Bryant, tryin' to be as high as me/ But you can't, even if you getting me traded/ Wherever I'm at, I'm Puffy and you're Mase, and you're still hated.
Shaq calls Ben "spider-web head" and disses the whole interview that Skillz had with Big Ben, but if you hear that song, Ben, not once disses Shaq....what's up with Shaq dissin him then?
Now the funny thing about all this is that Shaq took the first stab at Skillz by supposedly defending Kobe, and now in his most recent "comeback" he disses Kobe.....this is the same "I'll never play for another coach besides Phil Jackson" Shaq that now plays for Stan Van Gundy....I ain't surprised at how sorry this "Beef" really is....."
