Peep this article on race in Brazil and read the comments of this Brazilian :stopitslime:

“The infamous doctrine of having a “racial democracy” began when a few Brazilian historians compared their slavery to other slave countries like the United States. Despite less segregation in Brazil, they were the last country in the Americas to abolish it in 1888.”

Like many american specials, that love to omit key points, the author “forgot’ to metion that when “Casa Grande e Sezala” was writen, USA was still living its Aparthaid.

Harvard University professor of African and African American Research, Dr. Henry Louis Gates, on his PBS special, Black In Latin America, “forgot” to mention that in Diamantina the many blacks that intermixed with whites not only intermixed, but also had black slaves. Black landlords owning black slaves were not uncommom in Minas Gerais.

These are just exemples of points not mentioned is american “specials” like this.

he trying to downplay Brazilian slavery by saying America was fucced up AND how black Brazilians (Drake lookin muthafukkas) owned slaves too (that they got from whites) so lets focus on those SMALL minorities in a few towns :troll: we can't leave that out of a one hour tv special with 15 minutes of commercials

I need to do some more reading before I can confirm this. But it would not be surprising for a free black person to own another black person or to keep them as servants in that time.

You must understand that some people would not know how to survive free, or some could be re-enslaved by cruel masters if they were free, so they'd consign themselves to the service of a household for protection for themselves and their families.

SO yes it's very possible that blacks owned slaves and\or servants. but what was their relationship with them is my question? What conditions were they kept in and were they abused and their families and off spring sold?

And? What does one thing have to do with the other? :heh:

Harvard University professor of African and African American Research, Dr. Henry Louis Gates, on his PBS special, Black In Latin America, “forgot” to mention that in Diamantina the many blacks that intermixed with whites not only intermixed, but also had black slaves. The deflection. Anything to take the blame away from devils. I'm surprised he didn't find a way to mention "Irish slaves". :mjlol:

"Bu bu but nikkas had slaves too, y'all just as guilty :sadbron:"
