Read in a book that students who listen to Classical music scored higher on written test. Studies show, young people who listen to heavy metal are more prone to anti-social and destructive behavior. Some people told me certain music can make ill feelings worse.

90's R and B and old school Latin were my first loves. Grew up on gritty East Coast Hip Hop, then got into Hardcore around age 16 and never looked back. Dig some Metal, but I mostly dig music can slam dance too. As an adult only listen to rap if it makes you want to fight. So I want to try to something different because all that is getting old, and lyrically, I don't want to hear any of it. The live shows and crowds suck too.

I never appreciated classical growing up, and been to some Jazz shows and it didn't move me. I' m assuming Jazz and classical are similar in their complexity, and structure so i assume both will help with studying, relaxing, and focusing. Essentially I want to know how to how to ease into less aggressive music, i need something catchy but complex, and nothing too soft nor dark sounding.

What exactly are you listening for when listening to Jazz or Classical. What artists do you start with?

Miles Davis - Kind Of Blue
John Coltrane - Coltrane's Sound

^Start there. Pretty catchy (particularly the piano), but high quality masterful jazz songwriting/playing.
