A Bunch of New PS3, PS4 and PS Vita Games Announced
See what’s in store… for Japan, at least.

by Colin Moriarty SEPTEMBER 9, 2013

At this evening’s pre-TGS Sony press conference in Japan, a slew of new games were revealed. We already spun-out individual stories for some of these, such as Soul Sacrifice Delta for PS Vita, Phantasy Star Nova for PS Vita, Yakuza Ishin for PS4.

But there’s much more to talk about.

For instance, a strategy-RPG for PS3, PS4 and PS Vita was revealed from Kadokawa Games called Natural Doctrine. On the fighter forefront, Arc System Works' Guilty Gear Xrd (which had already been announced but not confirmed for platforms, now confirmed for both PS4 and PS3) was shown off, looking amazing as it harnessed Unreal Engine to present graphics that bridged the gap between 2D and 3D animation.

Capcom was one of the few companies to show not only in-engine footage, but an actual four-minute gameplay sequences of its PS4 game Deep Down, which runs on a new next-generation game engine. The game impressed deeply with rich textures and accurate lighting, while gameplay used a tight third-person perspective that has been compared to Dark Souls but looks to play a little bit more like a hack-and-slash Resident Evil 4 or Gears of War. Even though it doesn't use a first-person camera, the close-up view and the bone-shattering effects put the player right in the action of this dungeon crawler.

Furthermore, GungHo and Grasshopper Manufacture have confirmed that the companies are collaborating on a mysterious “supreme/extreme action” game called Lily Bergamofor PlayStation 4. And Wonder Flick, a Level-5 RPG originally for iOS, will be coming to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita.

As Playstation 4 is the hot system of the moment, companies were quick to jump on the bandwagon even if there isn't much to talk about yet. Also on the list was a new Mobile Suit Gundam, an Xtreme Legends updated version of Dynasty Warriors 8 (also on PS3 and Vita,) new versions of Dream Club and Idolmaster for those who enjoy all things girly and pink, a new EDF: Earth Defense Force for those with more manly needs.

Unfortunately, these games were revealed fairly rapidly, and details are sadly scarce. More information on all of these games are expected at Tokyo Game Show. IGN will be there in only a couple of weeks, so stay tuned for more.
