Lionsgate is developing “Cubed,” a remake of the 1997 science-fiction thriller “Cube.” The project is set up with Roy Lee’s Vertigo Entertainment and Jon Spaihts.
Saman Kesh is attached to direct “Cubed.” Kesh is best known for his 2013 short sci-fi film “Controller,” which is set to be developed as a feature at Shawn Levy’s Fox-based 21 Laps.
Phil Gawthorne is writing the script for “Cubed,” based on Kesh’s vision. The original “Cube,” directed by Vincenzo Natali, was set in a gigantic structure with over 17,000 rooms in which the main characters were trapped.
Lee is a producer on “The Lego Movie” and the upcoming “Poltergeist” reboot. Spaihts is writing scripts for Marvel’s “Doctor Strange” and Sony’s sci-fi drama “Passengers.”
Kesh is repped by UTA, Angelina Chen at Energy and attorney Patti Felker.
