The hype was real. This was an event. The album was good, so it did delivered. But it wasn’t the classic it needed to be either.
What a different world it was. This was barely Facebook. This was no online dating. Wayne was one of the best in the game, by far. People still bought albums. There was no Apple Music. Obama was on the verge of being elected. The world, and my world felt very different in summer 2008.
Saw him twice live at HOB in San Diego that year, all my boys. It was great time. Wayne would put on a fukking robe and sing Whitney Houston 'i Will Always Love You' for the last song lol
