Yeah,I badly strained {possible hairline fracture that didn't show up in an xray I dunno) both my wrists when I was out jogging and jumped what I thought was a small drop, landed in the road, and to stop myself faceplanting I broke the fall with my hands.
Went to hospital, xray machine was broke {seriously} and they were transported more seriously injured people who needed xrays to another hospital, it was a sunday you see and at weekends in the UK, you don't want to get sick or hurt yourself as the NHS hardly functions. So I was examined by a nurse ,who said they weren't broken, but strained. so I went home. because it was both wrists It was particularly hard to do anything, like opening a door, even flushing a toilet.
Weren't getting better in a few days, so went to my GP, who again thought they were not broke, but referred me back to hospital for an xray and because I have money to a private physio . Xray showed nothing in the end, and while I was waiting for the results of that saw the physio. She was extremely attractive so I have several appointments, despite her being rather useless. She tried to get me to wear these splints, but all that did was give me terrible pins and needles even when she adjusted them so I stopped wearing them, My main symptoms if I remember was pins and needles, and lots of clicking and cracking.
In the end frustrated , about not getting to the gym and the physio treatments about two weeks later,I got my dumbells out and started doing wrist exercises myself and some arm and shoulder movements.
I then soon actually went back to the gym, and whether the wrists were naturally healing, or what but I just started on my routine again, but very careful with the weights and sets. I even did my wrist exercises . I didn't use straps because again it seemed restricting my wrists made it worse.
I did relapse a bit when I stupidly decided to do a session on the punchbag, thinking it would 'strengthen them', so becareful what you use your hands for ,My wrists are almost better, but this is years later, I can train fine in the gym,but I do get a few issues, I can wake up, with them being painful, I still get occasional pins and needles, and my wrists still crack. At times when doing heavy movements in the gym like clean and press, I can slightly strain them, but I just grit my teeth. But again, I have had xrays, and an opinion from a doctor ,which both tell me they aren't broke. I would say they are 95 percent better, probably won't be quite the same, but again plenty of people have to deal with issues ,mine is minor compared to some, .
