That name has a good ring to it. LG Optimus Nexus. According to the Associated Press, LG’s newest device the Optimus G, will be hitting the States this November. So far it is only rumored to come to both AT&T and Sprint, but with no word yet for Verizon. The newest rumor to pop up from Android and Me backs up a previous rumor suggesting that LG may also be working on one of the new Nexus devices and could be titled the Optimus Nexus. As of now there’s no evidence to support the claim, but with LG putting out specs such as the ones in this newest device, it might be nice to see LG give a Nexus device a shot.

The Optimus G has a 13MP camera, sports Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro (which is a beast), and that 4.7-inch WXGA True HD IPS+ display. LG and the name “Optimus Nexus” was tossed out as a possibility back in August, along with devices from Sony and Samsung, so this rumor matches up nicely to that.

From what we know on the device, would you be down to try an LG Nexus with the specs mentioned above?

At this time last year we had tons of Nexus rumors to talk about, but it has been oddly quiet this time around. Google hasn’t really surprised us with any of their Android devices, so we expect some kind of solid details to leak out soon.

Back in May the Wall St. Journal reported that there would be multiple Nexus devices sold through Google’s online device store by Thanksgiving. That rumor was echoed again by a leak in August that said LG, Samsung, and Sony were all working on Nexus devices.

This week two of our trusted sources, who helped us uncover every other Nexus device to date, both told me they expect LG to produce a Nexus smartphone this year. We don’t have any pictures, specs, or benchmarks to publish, so you should still just consider this a rumor.

Even though no hard evidence has been provided, but we still believe there will be at least one Nexus smartphone come November. And when we evaluate the pure hardware that each handset maker might use, LG has us the most excited for this year. Their Optimus G will have the fastest mobile processor, best display, highest resolution camera, and new battery technology.

I have heard some larger OEMs openly question if it’s in their best interest to produce a Nexus smartphone, when all previous generations have disappointed in sales numbers. LG is still considered an underdog by many in the smartphone industry, so a Nexus device would greatly help to build up their image among the hardcore Android faithful.

Hopefully we won’t have to wait much longer for the next Nexus.

After the abomination that was the G2x. I don't think I could rock another LG phone. Google would have to be on top of them as far as quality control goes.

I can't lie, those specs are impressive, but so were the G2x on stock 2.2,2.3 at the time. That shyt overheated, rebooted, and crashed all day. If they get it right, i'll gladly pick it up, but i'm not buying it first day like I would if Samsung/HTC dropped it.
