The burden of having negative feelings.
For instance let's take in consideration two men. One is rich while the other is not. The rich man has an expensive item that the other man wants. The other man steals the item from the rich man. The rich man can easily buy another expensive item so his burden is not as much as the longing the other man had for the expensive item.
Is the world a better place? The burden of negative feelings has lessened but it occurred through theft.
Let's think of another example.
There's this lonely, depressed, outcast of a man that lusts for a beautiful female. She will not give up the box to him so he must take it. He does. In turn the man is no longer depressed and has gained confidence in order to flourish in social settings and now can get females without having to take the box. In contrast, the beautiful woman that was raped is lonely, depressed, and is an outcast.
This is an equal exchange of burdens. We would normally have little to no sympathy for the man but he held that negative burden the woman now has. The only reason we have sympathy for the female is because she received the burden. But if you think about it, that doesn't make sense to have such feelings. The man received the burden too but from somewhere or someone else or a plethora of places or things but he received it.
So what I'm trying to get at is that we should live by this checks and balances of negative burdens being held.
