A lot of people thought he was c00ning, like he was a crooked cop who enjoyed busting down black youth and wanted a taste of the kind of power that white cops exercised.

I don't think that's the case. Look at the clip again

I would argue that he was trying to prove a point to him. I get the image of a man who is tired of seeing black youths in gangs, throwing their lives away because they think that because they're flaggin that they're invincible. Look at his face. He didn't look happy at all regardless of him saying he enjoys catching cats slippin.

I think really you can see it both ways, like the directors and writers were trying to tell you that there is nobody you can trust, even if they're black. But you could also make the argument that the guy was trying to give him some tough love. What you guys think?

Nah. He was c00ning.

Might be me but even the white cop was lookin' like :wtf:

And if I'm mistaken wasn't it the same cop that appeared for the call about the robbery in Jason Styles house when he shot at the thief?

Asking "Did you get him? Cause that would be one less nikka around" something like that. Yeah he was c00ning. He on a power trip as a cop but he wouldn't last if he treated white civilians like he did Tre. So he picks on blacks.

forgot about that scene. That definitely does make him seem more like a c00n.

you know what......you right :ohhh:

obviously watching as a kid, i just wrote dude off as a c00n but, watching it again, he comes off as an old black dude sick of younger black kids terrorizing the city. nikkas not going to agree with you bcuz most nikkas hate cops, and rightfully so :scusthov: but, you just gotta understand. in the early 90s, LA was like fukkin Juarez, Mexico. there was 2,500 homicides in LA county in 1992, yet you asking why cops weren't so cordial with nikkas in the most crime infested sections? :skip:

"You think you tough?"
"I hate little motherfukkas like you"
"What set you from? Crenshaw Mafia? Nah. You one of those rolling 60s"

Did he have to draw his gun? No. Was what he said some hateful shyt? Yes. Was it fukked up that Trey caught that cop's anger & did nothing wrong? Yes. But the way he delivered those lines came off as a hardened, bitter azz dude sick of having to clean up piles of bodies. If he was really about that :shaq: life, he would beat Trey's azz. Once he sees Trey start tearing up & hears it was a real murder elsewhere, he realizes Trey ain't one of the nikkas he should be going after. shyt like that makes this movie beautiful. Even the dirtbag cops were human.

But like I said.....don't expect nikkas to be objective enough to resonate with cops on here

nikkas just run & associate LAPD with Rodney King but, never stop to think that there were 2 thousand murders a year in LA back then. At that point, you'd hate those thugs too breh.

Again......playing devil's advocate. No c00ning

honestly b......i think that scene was put in there to show the dynamics from both sides.

a) young blacks dealing with police brutality & racial profiling.
b) cops racially profiling because the city was straight hell.
c) good kids being mistaken as gangstas because of dress style, who they rolled with, etc.
d) black cops going overboard to prove themselves to a white-dominated LAPD.

Many interpretations. I don't think he was cooing, but he suffered from bitter-old-man syndrome. Also, if you take account for what the rampart Scandal unveiled years later in L.A., you can assume he was on a power trip.

Of the three, the last two make the most sense IMO.
