This was straight up piff.

The plot was extremely confusing and frustrating to follow.. but was it revolutionary in that it preceded shows like Lost who milked their mystery for all it was worth instead of having a set plan. Though of course they had that 6 year plan that was cut short.

The setting and attention to detail making the 30s come to life was legitimately amazing.

And I don't get creeped out by any films/TV stuff but I have to say it happened a bunch of times.

The mystery, the magical realism, everyone hiding everything from each other yet still being family :banderas: - it's a show that only when you're done you realize exactly how epic it was, despite laboring through it sometimes.

:pacspit: MOTHAfukk HBO for cancelling dat shyt. :mjcry:

What bothers me the most is they had so much options to finish it in the second season. Like the way the whole ending played out they could've had the big confrontation (they already sorta put in) and just finish it up. Instead they set up a whole new story direction like it was gonna be all good and then HBO pulled that crap.

I will say though that the second season dragged a lot in the beginning and was nowhere near as intriguing as the first. Despite that though:

I was looking into this, but never got my full attention. I'm afraid I will be disappointed in it like Deadwood. Deadwood is the only HBO show I was disappointed with so maybe I'll look into this show again. :lupe:

I am still heated at HBO for letting me think there would be a third season and then cancelling the show.

AfterLife
show was too good for just two seasons even if it did leave me confused at times. I just wanted them to explore the lore of the show more

Seems pointless to watch now since it was cancelled early.
that's the thing, I saw it cause I had some free time. thing is the scenery and the atmosphere is awesome. 1930s dust bowl. they did an absolutely brilliant job bringing that time back to life. the clothes, the music, the dust, the slang. awe-inspiring job. yes the story gets annoying after cause it's so cryptic and moves so slowly, but you still watch due to everything else. characters are real interesting types too. plus they didnt finish the storyline but the way i read it i thought it was just stopped in the middle, no this can be taken as a series finale too.

i compare this show with treme, who was all "new orleans atmosphere" but there are only so many 10 minute music intervals and 3th street parade of the season you can watch. it was kinda OD on the atmosphere as the plot was even more "meh" than carnivales.

I actually planned on starting the show today. Really looking forward to it.

I'm probably in the minority, but I don't mind checking out shows that have been canceled early. I sometimes watch shows that just had one season. I don't necessarily need closure to enjoy a series
