What am I trying to do?
Let's create a list of all black online media outlets (Worldwide). Not just outlets that are black owned and operated but that are also in alignment with the progression of the black community.
(In other words no "bu, bu, but what about black on black crime..." sites.)
Why am I trying to do this?
I was thinking about how we talk about not having a real black media to fight the propaganda machine that targets us and when I was listening to a video that was posted here where Dr. Boyce Watkins talked about how he pushed to have a Mt. Dew commercial taken down due to its racially charged imagery. I noticed that he didn't have to go to ABC, NBC or CNN to have it taken down. It was a grass roots effort that consisted of people reading and spreading his article.
So Im thinking, because all of these independent black sites have a respective audience, it would be just as effective to link these smaller media sites instead of having one or two major media outlets.
(In other words, we should just link up like Voltron.)
What do we gain from doing this?
The coli does an excellent job of keeping me up on SO MUCH news as it relates to black people. There are times that we get information that we want/need to spread to other black people (Ex: Recall for Mike Brown) and all we had was twitter (which is not bad, but we need more). If you want to link twitter users to this thread who have a following, PLEASE add that as well.
In the future if we need to share information with the black world then we can reference this list.
I will start the list and frequently update the op with what you provide for me. What websites (twitter profiles) do you PERSONALLY visit?
