I still can't get why alot of you nikkas keep talking about Chi like its the worst place in the world, let alone the country when its hardly the worst city in its own state. The other thread some dude said something like "everyone is in here talking but no one is posting FACTS". He right, so i decided just to post some REAL facts about the murder rate, and which cities are the true ones to worry about(the ones that got WORSE since the notorious crack era or remained same)
Chicago:
1985-666=22.2 murder rate
1990-850=30.5
1995-824=30.0
2000-631=21.8
2005-448=15.6
2010-432=16.0
So as you can see, chicago has made progress and the myth that this is the most violent era for chicago is just that, a myth.
Now these are some of the REAL cities, that didnt get better at all.
Oakland:
1985-95=26.2
1990-146=35.2
1994-140=40.8
2000-80=20.8
2005-145=36.4
2010-90=23.0
2011=103
(record high was 165 in 1992)
Pretty much in oakland is one of the only cities that didnt get better since that rough period in the early 90s, as murders are almost the same.
Phoenix:
1985-89=10.0
1990-128=13.0
1995-231=21.5
2000-152=11.5
2005-220=15.0
2010-116=8.0
(record high was 241 in 2003, last broke the 200 mark in 2007)
Las Vegas:
1985-57=12.5
1990-79=12.8
1995-118=14.9
2000-90=8.5
2005-152=11.6
2010-107
The reason I listend Phoenix and Vegas, is because these are two cities that never really get focused on, but they are a 2 of the ONLY major cities in the country that got worst in the 2000s than they were in the 90s. People focus on Chicago, but it has gotta alot safer over the years, while cities like Phoenix and Vegas have gotten worse, and places like Oakland basically stayed the same.
And of course, i'll show the real worse city in the state of Illinois
East Boogie:
1985-42=78.1
1990-45=109.1
2007-30=101.9
2010-21=77.8
These numbers were scattered because they hid some of the years and made them not available
But chea, these are the real facts about Chicago, and how it fairs up to other cities. And this isnt even including places like Philly, Detroit and Memphis
