Let's be honest about what the NBA's biggest problem is now. Zion Williamson and Ja Morant failed to step into roles the league was preparing them for

Like I just said in the other thread

Also I wouldn’t give full blame to Zion & Ja

Folks forget that Wiggins & Jabari both came in with crazy hype, Canadian Kobe & the next Melo and didn’t live up to it. Wiggins is good but never took that leap to be great and after two torn ACL’s Bari’s NBA career was basically done

Then comes Ben Simmons in 2016, Klutch’s heir to LeBron. Basically peaked as a rookie, never learned to shoot, fukked up his back and now he’s a role player no one cares about

Tatum was never supposed to be the guy out that 2017 draft, it was Fultz & Lonzo. Fultz a mental midget that’s not even in the league anymore, Lonzo injury prone and even when healthy never became more than a high level role player

That whole era of YouTube HS/college were supposed to be in their prime right now.

Basically the most popular players of that high school/college era disappointed in the league for one reason or another.

And now at a time when they were supposed to be in their primes leading the conversations, the players that people weren’t as interested in are the ones who made it :manny:

This outdated playbook of trying to find the next “guy” is the cause of this.

Doesnt matter if Zion reached his peak he was never going to be the face of the league because he was never going to be better than Jokic,Giannis,Luka or whatever final form Wemby takes .

Can’t be the face when you’re borderline top 5 which he would’ve been

Time for the NBA to stop being lazy and archaic and actually find a new way to promote teams .

It makes ZERO sense that fanbases can rock with the Lions and Browns for 60 years but it’s impossible for the NBA to have the same loyalty
