When Naughty Dog first advertised The Last of Us Remastered, one of the main selling points for us TLOU PS3 players was that the player pool was unified.

However, they recently announced that the 2 new maps: Financial Plaza and an unnannounced map, are going to be paid DLC when they launch. This decision to release the maps as paid DLC affects everyone's experience in a very negative way. Here are the problems with paid DLC maps:

  • Fragmentation of the TLOU community; this means there are more (unnecessary) sub-playlists which divides the community.
  • Longer matchmaking times. Lol this one is already bad enough, I won't even bother here.
  • More lag. Since the player pool is divided, that means the probability of you finding players from your region decreases and so creating a very laggy MP experience.
  • Less map variety: So far, it seems that there are going to be 2 maps in the next DLC drop. To create a playlist consisiting of just 2 maps is just awful. It will get very repititive really quickly and later down the lifecycle of TLOU, there won't be many players in that pool.
  • Party dominating: We all know how so many laggy parties ruin the experience of the paid DLC maps in TLOU PS3. New players are very unlikely to buy the new paid maps, which means lots of parties in matchmaking. Playing solo in that case is a lost case.
As you can see, I can't think of one benifit of making these maps paid DLC - other than the greediness of ND ofcourse. Naughty Dog released a lot of paid DLC hats and customization items; those can be used to recoup the financial resources used to create the maps. Killzone Shadow Fall released all their MP maps for free while Co-op is paid DLC along with customization items. I don't see a reason for ND not to follow that route.

We had to pay for TLOU PS3, the Season Pass, a PS4, PS Plus subscription and a copy of TLOUR. I even recommended this game on PS4 for a lot of my friends. I'm not a ND hater, I just hate the idea of lying to us. Naughty Dog said they will have one consolidated player pool; and here is the proof:

Please show your support for this. I can't stress how deceived I feel being lied to about the unified pool in TLOUR. Don't even get me started about the false advertising. ND won't listen unless a lot of people ask for it.

So here is your chance.

Ehh...I don't really see the harm in it. Since they're unlockable in hte game by actually playing the game, it's not a big deal. It'd be a different story if these were weapons that were otherwise inaccessible without paying for them and they were some of the nicest guns n shyt. Lot of games do these sort of deal. I see it as just a quick option for some would-be gamers that either can't', don't want to or don't have the time to play the game the right way and earn everything, but still want these items. It's a quick fix option for them, but hardly mandatory, so fukk it. :manny:

I always thought serious developers like ND were above nickel&diming is like this :scusthov:

I loved TLOU on PS3, the MP was cool as hell and the SP doesn't need more praise really it was classic right of they bat.

Now tho I wouldn't even touch TLOUR MP with someone else's hands

FVKK ND for this shxt and FVKK every developer for turning the idea of DLC's into the ground :pacspit:

You do know that you can do this in BF4 and other games too right? Either play the game and unlock or be a fakkit and buy it to unlock.

Truth is there are bums who want access to shyt and will buy it without playing through to earn it. It's the American Way! :sas2:

No, this is nothing like in battlefield.

In the case of TLOUR you can't use the weapons in custom load outs unless you pay money for them.

But y'all already knew this and would rather defend the shyt, than demand change.

Actually, I wasn't aware of what's what with it. If that's true, then yeah, I have no qualms with calling out foul to them on that. I'm hardly a blind follower. Cant' say the same for you though. I'm sure Halo 5 could pull the same thing and you'd change your tune real quick.

And on to the next deflection.

I've gone on record saying stuff like this really doesn't bother me. Devs gotta eat, and as long as I'm having fun I'm good. I've never purchased DLC in my life.

Just calling out the hypocrisy of dudes that have rallied against similar practices that weren't even as egregious as this one. :manny:
