I recall that Howard Bryant has this story about being in the WFT locker room just shooting the breeze with some linemen, when someone brought a MLB contract. When Bryant told them that MLB contracts are guaranteed, they started laughing thinking he was joking. When they realized that Bryant was serious, he said that the locker room got real quiet and somber.
But for reference, Mutombo retired in ‘09, and earned $143M. DJax and McCoy just retired in the last 5 years, and earned $91M and $61, respectively.
