After bringing projects like She’s Gotta Have It and Da Five Bloods to Netflix, legendary filmmaker Spike Lee has finally scored a creative partnership with the streaming giant.

On Thursday, it was revealed that the Academy Award-winning director has entered into a new alliance with Netflix where Lee will spearhead features as part of a multi-year deal, Deadline reports.

in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Besides My Joints, We Together Will Focus On The New Diverse Storytellers. YOUTH MUST BE SERVED. And Dat’s Da Truth, Ruth. YA-DIG? SHO-NUFF.”

In addition to Lee’s written and directed Vietnam War drama Da 5 Bloods and the two-season series She’s Gotta Have It, Lee was also behind Netflix’s film version of Roger Guenveur Smith’s one-man show Rodney King and the Stefon Bristol sci-fi film See You Yesterday.

“Throughout Spike’s incredible career, his writing and directing have remained searing and insightful about our times, while still being incredibly entertaining,” Scott Stuber, Head of Global Film at Netflix said.

As part of the partnership, Netflix also committed to investing in Lee’s ongoing mission to develop new diverse talent and increase representation within the entertainment industry.

“There Is No Better Way For Me And My Company 40 Acres And A Mule Filmworks To Begin The New Year Than Renew Our Partnership With Ted, Scott And Tendo-Da Fearless Leaders Of NETFLIX,” Lee said

We’re privileged to enter this new partnership with Spike and look forward to bringing the next chapter of films from Brooklyn’s very own to the world.”

Over the course of Lee’s more than three decades in Hollywood, his ‘Spike Lee joints’ have become cult classics and been praised by many who feel his works often go overlooked in mainstream media. After creating prolific films like Do the Right Thing, Malcolm X, Crooklyn, He Got Game, 25th Hour, Inside Man, Chi-Raq, it was his 2018 film BlackKklansman that finally earned him an Oscar award

Get that bag Spike! You're a prick but also a fantastic writer, director and storyteller. Very much looking forward to what comes out of this. Don't cancel that Netflix sub just yet!

I don't like to get personal on here but I'm going to tell my Spike Lee story.
I used to work at the Jackie Robinson Foundation here in NYC. Their office is downtown Canal and Varick near the Lincoln Tunnel. They have office on one Floor and on the ground Floor they have the building reserved for the museum they want to build it's wrapped in a big posters saying, Jackie Robinson Museum coming in 2016 and they have had to change it a few times and say, 2017, 2018 while they raise money. You get the picture. Anyway, Boomer Esiason the former Jets QB does a morning show here. And he was on there insinuating that the Foundation must be misappropriating the funds for the museum since it is taking so long to build. It became somewhat of a news story. I believe the Foundation put out a statement to counter.
JRF gives scholarships to minority candidates from all over the country and part of my job was to help select who gets the scholarships. I was in DC for the interview process for students in that region. Seperately from the 4 year scholarships they give out annual awards. One of them is the Spike Lee Motivation Awards. They honored him years before I worked there and somehow this award was named after him.
So I did my BI in DC and I am at the Gate to fly back to NY. Guess who is on my plane, Spike Lee. He got up to board the plane early like he was in 1st Class. I think JRF, Spike Lee Award the synergy is real say something. So I introduce myself tell him where I work and how big a fan I am and he interrupts me and says, "What's going on with the museum?!" I start explaining and this chump turns his back on me and starts walking away. So I stopped talking but I'm pissed at the level of disrespect displayed. Anyway, we get on the plane and he's in coach with the rest of us. lol
We are on the tarmac and it's starts raining and they make everyone deplane for like half an hour. When we reboard Spike is sitting down already and he looks at me and shakes his head because he wants to Bond over the lateness of our flight. I paid him no mind. When we land he tells me to tell Rachel and Sharon (Jackie's wife and daughter) he says hello. I say OK, but really I was still pissed and on some "Whateva niqqa" shyt. lol I don't think I passed on his hello.

You can tell from his interviews. Spike Lee ain't congenial. Same shyt that made him and Tarantino fall out; nikka had QT come to his classes at Boston College (or Boston University or whatever) as a guest all friendly and shyt to speak with his film class, and then would talk shyt about QT in the media. :gucci: Shades of Kanye.
