He was likable, built and a decent actor. Really, racism stopped him in the 80s/90s. I always wondered why he didn't get more work.

Yes, indeed. He went through it, so guys like Wesley Snipes and them wouldn't have to suffer as much. I enjoyed Action Jackson and it pulled in numbers similar to Above the Law with basically the same budget. Yet, Hollywood execs chose not to give him another feature film.
