Leading FOTY for 2018 so far: GGG-Canelo 2 or Lara-Hurd ?

Now this past weekend boxing fans were treated to an extraordinary fight between GGG and Canelo, rematch that lived up to its hype. A brutal and savage affair for 2 of the 4 middleweight belts as well as the lineal status in the division. For the majority of the year the overall consensus was the fight of the year was Jarrett Hurd vs Erislandy Lara, which like GGG-Canelo 2 was a 2 belt unification as well as also being a brutal and savage fight.

Me and my breh @LeVraiPapi have a slight disagreement about this in the GGG-Canelo 2 thread. I say GGG-Canelo 2, he says Lara-Hurd. What do you think is the better fight? Or if neither what do you think is the best fight that aired so far this year?

Exactly I been telling Pat that Lara v Hurd and actually Wilder v Ortiz was a better fight than GGG vs Canelo. GGG was not himself that fight at all, except for round 10

i actually think wilder-ortiz is overrated...it falls too much in line with what i think about wilder's skill level...ggg-canelo and lara-hurd both displayed something from the norm from at least one fighter in each fight...wilder-ortiz followed a pattern...wilder gets outboxed then gets bailed out with one right hand..wash and repeat

Wilder vs Ortiz had to many bad rounds where all they did was Jab, it had very high highs and low lows, so I think the other two are better and id lean toward GGG vs Canelo but Lara Hurd last 5 rounds was incredible.

now you know this is a BS comparison and this can easily be picked apart...you might want to try a different fight to compare

I dnt think Lara was off his game that much. He actually was fighting good he was just going against terminator. Lara have some underated pop. He was just fighting a dif style so I’m not going to take that away from him. He was laying some heavy leather on Hurd. Lara was actually effective.

GGG just jabbed all night and walks backwards. Plus you can tell Lara left it all in the ring that night. GGG just fought cautious and like he was scared to get hit. Canelo did what he wanted to do when he wasn’t tired. The cards was closer than the reality of the situation. GGG got his ass whooped.

FOTY to me when fighters dig deep and pull out the win. GGG didn’t dig deep, Lara did. Lara was fighting for that win to the last Bell. GGG was just hoping that the judges count his light jabsthe same as Canelo power punches.

Lara wasn’t dancing to no decision over Hurd. Hurd would’ve won easier IMO because Hurd would’ve won off activity alone. You acting like Lara style is way superior than Hurds. Angulo was effective against prime Lara down and Hurd is 3x the fight Angulo was.
