New York Giants linebacker and NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor is accused of domestic violence.

Lynette Taylor, 42, was arrested about 11 p.m. Thursday and charged with battery and resisting arrest without violence for striking her husband in the back of the head resulting in a three-inch cut, according to a Pembroke Pines police report.

They were having a verbal argument when Lynette Taylor, who was sitting in a recliner, threw an object across the room hitting her husband in the back of his head as he stood in the kitchen, the report stated.

When officers arrived, she refused to get out of the chair and spontaneously said, "Yeah, I threw it at him," police said.

She cursed and interrupted officers when they tried to advise her of her rights. While in custody, Lynette Taylor said "Yeah, I beat [his] a--. I made him bleed," and then stated she was just being sarcastic, according to the arrest report.

Lawrence Taylor said he did not wish to prosecute his wife, the report stated.

At her first-appearance court hearing Friday morning, Lynette Taylor told Broward Judge John "Jay" Hurley that her husband lied about the domestic violence. Then, she identified herself.

"My husband is a 300 pound linebacker. I didn't hit him in the head," she said. "Yes, I'm Lawrence Taylor's wife."

The judge asked if her husband was the retired NFL player and she repeated that he was.

"We had an argument and he lied to the police," she said, before being advised not to talk about the facts of the case.

The judge set bond at $2,500 and gave her permission to contact her husband and ten-year-old child, but only through a third person, not directly.

Records show she had prior arrests for aggravated battery and domestic violence in 1991, 2001, 2008 but all cases were dropped, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Lawrence Taylor, nicknamed "LT," played his entire career with the Giants from 1981 to 1993 and won two Super Bowls. He was ranked the best defensive player in NFL history by the league, fellow players and the media.

He admitted to having used cocaine, and pleaded guilty in 2011 to sexual misconduct involving a 16-year-old girl.

Lynette Taylor spoke plainly about her husband's troubles through the years and defended him in a 2010 television interview with Larry King.

Staff researcher Barbara Hijek contributed to this report.
