According to BASE Chael's appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience Del was informed he was going to lose to the head-kick. While Cro-Cop thought it was a shoot.

I wouldn't put it past Pride because they had quite a few questionable fights in their history.

Note: Maybe that's why Vince didn't purchase Pride after Shane was begging him to do so (potentially adding to their falling out).
