But is is oochie wally or one mic?

We where hype when he was hired and he said "you eat what you kill". He said from the beginning that the combination of what effort he sees in practice and what he sees in games will dictate play time.

That was the rebirth of "NY grit and grind". nikkas were so hype, they were going to a barber and asking for the van gundy baldy.

Then, fast forward to today and brehs acting like Fiz is Hornacek.

Do we want high effort rewarding development or play the kids with no accountability?

Let me know if y'all really think Fiz is really not committed to development...

These nikkas getting DNPs and arr still talking about "I understand what coach is doing.

Y'all got to stop getting your hopes up. This team doesn't have the personnel or cap space to acquire the personnel to attract KD.

Look at our playmakers at guard. Now look at Curry, Westbrook, and Harden. That's like buying a black and white tv after watching a 50-inch 4K.

Also, how many times do other players and agents use us as leverage for deals with teams they want to play for?

Y'all are long time fans and keep falling for the okie doke on some charlie brown shyt. Focus on the draft and making smart fa pickups.

Maybe, just maybe Frank isn't showing much in practice, and Fiz is going with cats who are showing hunger & passion. It really isn't that difficult to understand. But what do I know, my basketball knowledge is trash

Players will never tank. A team tanking simply means the front office putting pressure on a coach to play the least efficient lineup, and this is usually accomplished by playing rookies, mid-level vets, and keeping injured stars sidelined “for their own good”.

Remove Frank from the equation. "Eat what you kill" and "grit and grind" both get big question marks with the way Fiz did Dotson. Dotson went from one of our best two way players and a starter to multiple DNP's and only got back on the court because we were getting blown out and Fiz was looking for a spark. Meanwhile Hezonja had the opposite progression, one of our worst players on both ends to getting benched which made sense to suddenly starting. As much as I hate on Kanter, his play didn't get better or worse going from starter to the bench back to starting again, so that movement doesn't reflect merit based treatment either. Grit and Grind is especially not part of this team any more, that starting unit has been a huge improvement offensively at the sacrifice of defense (which heads can absolutely applaud because it's gotten wins but it doesn't reflect grit and grind in the slightest). All of this is to say, I don't buy what Fizdale sells us when he's talking any more. That's fine, most coaches BS their way through things, but those preseason comments are taken with a grain of salt to me because his action has reflected it.

I only see accountability on the offensive side of the court. Exhibits A, B and C being THJ, Kanter and Burke. All three have been poor defenders who make multiple mistakes without punishment. As much as Trier and Knox have shown development offensively, they're making the same awareness mistakes today that they made day one (ball watching, poor positioning for rotations, etc.) and while I'm much more forgiving of that; it's not a sign of accountability that they only get benched when they miss shots rather than give up backdoor cuts or miss a weakside rotation because they're too tight to their own man. Even offensively, you can't tell me that THJ, Burke, Trier or even Hezonja don't look players off and force bad shots multiple times on any given night without a punishment. None of this is to say Fiz isn't committed to development either. Just that he hasn't been consistent about his accountability and that his focal points for development have including keeping expiring contracts happy at the potential expense of others. So Hezonja, Burke and Kanter all publicly expressed unhappiness and all three got bumps in their roles. And listen, I get what he's doing...happy locker room is a better place to sell to future FA's and develop players (plus Marc Gasol got him fired being held accountable for defense); but is Tim Hardaway really being held accountable when his defense has been subpar and he's scored 95 points off of 98 shot attempts (31% from the field) over the past 6 games while playing more minutes than he's averaged so far this season? At what point does accountability start to apply for everybody and not just the youngest players on the roster who are least likely to complain about it?

Knicks play tonight, I hope Knox goes off with another career high tonight.

I wanna see Knox come off a curl for a catch and shoot plus handle the ball through a pick and roll at least once each in his first stint on the floor. I see Fiz gave him some playcalls last game and appreciated that because I think it's what can get the kid's motor going out the gate...that and I gotta give Timmy his props; THJ been looking for Knox on kickouts moreso than anybody else on the team all other guards included.

On the surface, this is a good point. My only response would require me to speculate on Fiz's intentions. My feeling is "eat what you kill" refers to what you actually do IN GAME. I get the feeling that Fiz, until the 25 game mark, is making game day roster decisions based on a host of variables that we, on the outside, can't understand, but players like Dotson seems to understand and respond to well

Again, on the surface, I agree w/ you but when you look at the unavoidable variables such as foul trouble & matchups, if you want your foul happy projects to get more meaningful minutes, they may not be best starting and should have those minutes later in the games. Clearly, we have Robinson & Vonleh who are the only players who can step into the center role. If your coach, how do you best allow a situation for Robinson to grow w/o him seeing most of his minutes in the first half of the first quarter b/c of quick foul trouble? You also need to remember that development is not just let the kids play. It's about our developing PG needs to have players he can pass to that are the most capable of making a shot. Our developing 2s like Trier & Dotson are trending toward being the 3rd or 4th focus of the defense so they may need to be out there and seeing how they can excel w/ the defense focusing on a Kanter & Timmy for example. It seems as if Fiz gives the kids opportunities to try on different hats b/c he and the team need to help them on a trajectory to the most efficient use of their potential. As stated, our developing center, Mitch, needs to see what the 3rd & 4th quarters feel like. He's not getting that chance if he has 4 fouls before the 2nd. Our developing forward, Knox, needs to understand that he was not doing well at all w/ the opportunities given. Has Hezonja gained minutes advantage over him? Yes; b/c our potential future star has to understand that if his effort is trash & a trash player like Hezonja is trying(failing) but actually trying, he has to adjust his body language and effort in order to get more court time.

Again, as always, I respect your stance, however, I'm going to disagree(knowing I could be wrong) here. We all know that balance is important. We want defense for 48 minutes...we NEED defense in the second half and 4th. As stated, Mitch getting time in the 1st and gets into foul trouble derails the development of our youth who need to see what the game plays like w/ Mitch as defensive anchor.

Breh, if dad says, his plan is to take us to disney world hell or high water and mid way to disney, a flat tire, bathroom stop, etc happens...if we stop, he doesn't mean he isn't sticking to the plan.

The point is, there are many variables that have to be taken into consideration, however, eat what you kill may still be the overarching goal.

Here, I understand.

I do trust Fiz but I'd have to go out on a serious reach to try to predict what his algorithm is in deciding how he's dealing w/ the above.

I'll say that I wholeheartedly see why you have this opinion; but like Dotson & Mudiay's performances after a stretch of DNPs...I'm willing to bet it's not as simple as we think it is and FIz seems to know what he's doing when it comes to getting the best out of his players - veterans & youth - and regarding seeing incremental improvements as the year progresses. <--Other than Frank. Although, the "Fizdale Special" involving DNPs if only now happening w/ Frank and we will see if it seems to benefit Frankie like it did many of his peers.

Respect. :salute:

Off topic but everytime in my life I have said "Eat what you kill" I was working at a shady sales job. Normal sales jobs look down on that term and want a discussion of metrics. Game recognizes game and Fiz is definitely a salesman. Now is he a good coach, welp we're going to find out.

Knicks aren't tallking about Metrics. Especially if we see a burke/Trier back court again.

fitz is a solid coach. so many players are overachieving under him and this team has no quit in them. the randon rotations/line ups sometimes is because hes evaluating talent and givin everyone a trail run

i would of never started mudiay ever in life but hedid it for a reason. look at him now

shiy isnt really gonna settle in until kp comes back anyway

He had every right to bench Frank. The team was not producing because he had no spark of aggression or energy that everyone could feed off.

He's too soft like a lesbian. I bet, one of the reason he drops too many passes is because he lathers his hands too much with the lavender scented Johnson & Johnson's baby lotion.

Yet, even on his "softest" day, he'd have a good chance of locking up your favorite player.:camby:
