Merchant: Crawford is Even Money Against Floyd/Manny

Veteran boxing observer, Larry Merchant, is sky high on the prospects of one Terence Crawford, who just recently captured the vacant WBO 140-pound title by halting Thomas Dulorme in six rounds on April 18th in Arlington, Texas.

"I think that after he fights somebody at 147 and if he can show the same stuff he's showing now, I would make him no worse than even-money against either (Floyd) Mayweather or (Manny) Pacquiao," said Merchant this past Friday.

The boxing world will be focused on the match-up between Mayweather and Pacquiao this Saturday night from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Crawford, who is now a two-division titlist is certainly a talented young fighter but that is a bold statement by Merchant who sticks by his projection.

He clarified his statement by adding - "If he can maintain what we've seen of him to welterweight, he's just moved up from lightweight to junior welterweight, he's got the body of a welterweight and I think by that time he's the heir to the thrones."

Breh...he beat a skilled featherweight, a gatekeeper in Beltran, and an average fighter in Dulorme and you're agreeing with Merchant that is enough to say he's EQUAL to HOF level Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao if they fought?

That's my main gripe with Crawford...I've seen him get hit flush waaay to often and wobbled
