The trade was supposed to help the Lakers contend for a title, and they won one. Unfortunately, things just haven't lined up for the Pelicans to capitalize on all the potential they were banking on yet, and hoping that the Lakers flamed out enough this season to have a shot at Wembanyama so they could claim the W is proof enough that this didn't work out the way it should've.
