Great experiences.
My experiences have not been great, unfortunately.
I'm noticing a pattern lately. Truthfully I noticed it a long time ago but last night it really bothered me. I usually rely on my phone and self check out instead of asking someone for help just to avoid experiences like this. I'm not sure if its due to where I live or how I look or what. I was in a hurry and went to 3 different stores yesterday. Cashier in the first store was holding up the line having mini conversations with the white women in front of me. When it was my turn she didn't greet me, avoided eye contact, and would not speak. Ran into a dollar store for cheap toiletries and the cashier at that store also went cold when she saw me standing in line. I asked her how her night was going and she mumbled something and placed my receipt on the counter. Ok whatever. I went into an office supply store and asked for help locating a label maker. The customer service worker gave me straight attitude. It doesn't happen all the time. For example I also grabbed some fast food and the older lady serving me at the drive through window was very nice. But it happens a lot for me to notice.

@junie my experiences es aren’t always bad-I would say 60% bad, 40% good.

but of the bad experiences people have either just been super rude to be or have implied that I am a shoplifter. I can’t pinpoint what about my appearance makes people think I’m a thief but I find it insanely offensive.

The people who are rude to you, do they share a similar background?

Yes.

I have to say, my 'Customer Service' requirements are minimal - I prefer not to be assisted unless I request it, I prefer not to engage in small talk, & I only expect the employee to provide the service that I am entitled to as a paying customer.

I'm only asking because its always people who are the same sex and race as me and I'm trying so hard to understand why.
some people like to take out their insecurities and frustrations on people they are jealous of or are intimidated by.

and some people are just nasty individuals and are quicker to try it with someone that looks like them compared to someone else.

It's probably where you live. Certain areas or businesses have poor customer service. And every dollar store I have ever been to has poor customer service. Don't take it personal. Idk why you'd look for good service from anyone making minimum wage anyway. Now if you were in Barney's you might have a case.

Women don't treat each other well generally but I can't say that BW provide me with worse customer service than anyone else.

It's a toss up. I try to be extremely nice and respectful to cashiers. Some appreciate it, some don't even care. Honestly if self checkout is an option, I use that to avoid any mess.

I never really notice, I'm pretty pleasant though. Living in NYC I greet, keep it pushing. I would say most of my experiences are fairly decent especially with my sistas :mjpls:. Now when it comes to being over the phone, I straight cuss bytches out putting them in their place...sad these are reps, never had issues with a male rep.
