La La Anthony has joined Spike Lee’s Amazon Studios film Chiraq. Anthony will play Hecuba, a very strong, fiesty, outspoken woman who is part of a female crew/gang. Set against the violence in inner city Chicago, Chiraq touts a top-billed cast that includes Nick Cannon, Wesley Snipes, Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett, John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson. Anthony is a series regular on A&E’s Unforgettable and starred in the Think Like A Man franchise. She is repped by UTA and Untitled Entertainment.
JD Dillard’s Sleight from Diablo Entertainment has inked four actresses: Stacey Dash (Clueless), Sasheer Zamata (Saturday Night Live), Cameron Esposito (Maron) and Syechelle Gabriel (Falling Skies). Sleight is an urban magic thriller about a young Los Angeles Sasheer Zamatastreet magician who is left to take care of his little sister after their mother’s death. He turns to drug dealing to keep a roof over their heads. After he has a run-in with his supplier and his sister is kidnapped, the magician has but no choice but to rely on his exceptional talents. The film stars Dulé Hill, Jacob Latimore and hip-hop artist Tyga. Production begins this month. CAA is repping the film’s domestic rights. Dash is repped by Silver Fox Managment; Zamata is with Gersh, Avalon and Hansen Jacobson; Gabriel is repped by Stein Entertainment and WME; Esposito is repped by Gersh, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Hansen Jacobson.
