A reliable Kotaku source has informed us that the PlayStation 4, codenamed Orbis, will be out this November in the United States.

Our source—the same reliable source who back in early 2012 told us the codename for Sony's next console and the codename for Microsoft's next console—tells us that there are two models planned for the new machine, and that pricing won't be announced until later this year, possibly around E3. The current plan, our source says, is to release them at $429 and $529, but that could change.
Quote:
New information revealed by our source suggests that on top of all that, you'll also be able to control the PS4 remotely from your tablet or smartphone. You'll be able to use a mobile device to chat with your PS4 friends or buy games which are then automatically downloaded to your machine, our source says.
Quote:
Orbis is also following the path first set by Xbox Live: our source says "most" of the PS4's online features will require a premium subscription to use. Sony's new online service will be called PlayStation World, our source says, replacing PlayStation Plus
Quote:
our source says that every PS4 will come with a PlayStation Eye; that a new spectating feature will let you watch other friends play games from your console's dashboard, even when you don't own the game they're playing; and that the console will support local network play via Vita.

They'll still keep basic multi player and Netflix free. They know that's a huge reason for catching up to the 360 worldwide so no way in hell they'll charge just to pay online.

But $429/529..... ehh, I don't wanna believe it, BUT.... Sony hasn't been winning on launch prices since the PS2.

Sonys broke, MS makes money from online PSN + doesn't make sony anything. if they want to profit from gaikai and have a respective service they will charge. trust me SONY is charging.

Premium subscription? Kinda quiet in here. Reminds me of when them towers where hit in 2001 and how Bush just sat in that classromn after hearing the news.

:russ:

If you haven't been paying attention. Playstation Plus is a Premium Subscription. I'm hoping they don't charge to play online or get access to apps that you can on your regular cpu. But, my beloved Sony is bleeding out when it comes to funds so I'm thinking, they will hey what did free get us?

Guessing

Premium = gaiki(sp?) streaming service, party chat, plus like game offers, spectator mode.

Praying = still have access to apps and online gaming. Fingers crossed like a mug.

With that jackknife controller and with the PSeye packed in, 400 bucks to 450 is a given.

I've never understood why this is such a big deal. If you like playing on PSN why is it that paying for the service would make you so disappointed?

So you mean that all of the PS3 drones who love to yell that MS charges for Xbox Live will now have to fork over money to PS4 online

:pachaha:

Not only is this is unconfirmed rumor (it's Kotaku :comeon:)

It says "our source says "most" of the PS4's online features will require a premium subscription to use."

That's exactly what PS+ is now and it doesn't even say what those online features will be :comeon:

Yeah you can dream. I just don't understand why it's such a big deal. We pay $60 per game. Paying that amount to enhance your gaming expierince for the entires year sounds like a good deal to me.
