Klitschko's Manager: Fury/Wilder Next,No Truth on Briggs

By Rick Reeno

Bernd Boente, manager of WBO/IBF/IBO/WBA heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, has denied the information being circulated by Shannon Briggs, who claims a deal has been brokered to face Wladimir on a date in the fall.

Klitschko returns to action on April 25th, when he faces undefeated Bryant Jennings in an HBO televised main event from New York's Madison Square Garden.

According to Briggs, a deal was already reached to face Klitschko on a date in September.

"I have a date with Klitschko set for September, if not sooner," Briggs told Buncey's Boxing Podcast. "His people have confirmed that -we've got a date. We're looking at September. We're looking at Hamburg, but hopefully we can change that venue to somewhere in America. That's what we're working on. Hopefully it can happen, if not in September then July or August. I feel great, I'm in phenomenal shape. I'm looking forward to fighting soon."

Briggs has done an excellent job of gaining publicity by methodically pursing Klitschko, in multiple countries, with unexpected confrontations. That's the good news. But the bad news, however, is that Briggs has yet to beat a credible opponent in the top ten. Briggs needs a victory of note to convince the public, and the cable networks, that he's not going to be massacred in the fight.

Boente told BoxingScene.com that Briggs' entire story is fabricated. Should Wladimir come out successful in April, their next order of business is a mandatory obligation to the WBO's top challenger, Tyson Fury, or a unification fight with newly crowned WBC champion Deontay Wilder.

There have already been discussions between Boente and Fury's promoters, Frank Warren and Mick Hennessey, to stage a fight in 2015.

"Rick, there is absolutely no truth in his story. First of all, Wladimir has a tough opponent coming up in the month of April with Jennings. Should everything go well, we are looking for a fight against either Fury or Wilder. But that also depends on the promoters on the other side of the table," Boente told BoxingScene.com.

Briggs is probably lying but I still see Vlad fighting him next. He has gotten under his skin and that probably is reason enough for him to want to knock him out.

I believe Briggs will fight Klitschko later this year though, because Haymon is NOT about to put Wilder up against GAWDimir anytime soon. That's kinda stupid...and Haymon doesnt make clearly stupid moves. He protects his "investments" and a black, undefeated, American born and raised Heavyweight Champion with a record of 33-0 (32 via KO) is a gold mine.

Klits will beat Jennings in April, most likely fight Fury in September, and Briggs probably in late December 2015/January of 2016. The promo is already there, fans want to see it, and it's an easy night of work for Klits on his way to catching/breaking Joe Louis defense streak

I always knew that a Wilder/Wlad fight was not something that would happen quickly if Wilder wont he belt. There is way too much money to be made from an American heavyweight champ with KO power for Haymon to hotshot a fight against Wlad and risk it.

And even if no fight is signed or potentially signed I still predict some epic shenanigans from Shannon in the lead up to the Wlad/Jennings fight. He doesn't have to leave the country to get his troll game on this time.

Wladimir Klitschko, who is fighting Bryant Jennings on April 25th in New York, says he is completely tired of Shannon Briggs and his antics. Klitschko told German newspaper Sport-Bild: “Shannon Briggs has completely crossed the line. I am tired of him. I now want to fight and punish him.” Klitschko said.

Klitschko: “I understand Briggs, he wants promote himself and get a title fight just like David Haye, Tyson Fury, Manuel Charr and Marco Huck did in the past. None of these guys promoted themselves better as Briggs though…the only problem is that he crossed a line. Briggs doesn`t know when enough is enough, it`s not funny anymore.”

According to popular German boxing news sites, K2 promotions have already booked the 02 Arena in Hamburg for a Klitschko-Briggs showdown in September.

haymon don't give a fukk about that, as long as the controlling interest he don't care if the boxers lose fights, this thing about being undefeated to be marketable didn't exist until people used it to claim Floyd was ducking

mike Tyson, evander holyfield, Riddikk bowe, lennox lewis all got their biggest pay days and most popular fight after taking losses

so how is haymon's fault if Wlad decides to fight bum ass briggs

People have been marketed as being undefeated before Floyd:comeon:

Like who, Mike Tyson did even bigger numbers after they lost

If Floyd would've lost any of his last fights he would still do big numbers

this is where you said it

I've said it countless times....Klits has to fight EVERY Heavyweight available in order to break Louis' record and Briggs will be one of em. Haymon will not put Wilder against Klits in 2015 because it's a dumb decision....not because it's his "fault" or that Wilder's scared. It would be smart NOT to match Wilder with Klits for as long as possible. Why hold the Crown for only 8 months when Wilder can avoid him and dominate for years afterwards? (Because Klitschko will beat Wilder right now).

That's what I was saying.

They want the fight, they do this shyt for money, also Wilder will not become a cash cow heavyweight unless he beats Wlad or puts up a good fight against him, so they want the fight more than wlad would want the fight from a business stand point, because wilder has nothing to lose and wlad has nothing to gain from that fight

wlad's people just said briggs isn't a priority and he shouldn't be, briggs is a bum, who wants to watch briggs get beat up by wlad in a non-competitive fight

so if they do fight briggs, it's because of Wlad's camp and nobody else
